Exibição do documentário "Nosotros, afroperuanos" em Washington DC

A segunda exibição de "Nosotros, Afroperuanos" foi na livraria Sankofa, do diretor Haile Gerima. A livraria é famosa por ser um espaço de venda de DVD´s e livros e por apresentar eventos relacionados a cultura negra. Foi um grande prazer poder exibir o documentário neste espaço, compareceram pessoas muito interessadas no tema, com o objetivos de trocar ideias e vivências culturais. O premiado diretor de cinema   etíope, autor de Sankofa e Teza,  Haile Gerima esteve presente e abrilhantou ainda mais o momento. Experiência sensacional.

Durante o mês de maio, em uma viagem com o objetivo de conhecer mais sobre a cultura afro-americana e divulgar meu trabalho de pesquisa em cultura negra, foi possível com o apoio de diferentes instituições viabilizar duas exibições nos Estados Unidos. Uma delas foi na Galera Raw Space, no famoso bairro do Harlem, em Nova Iorque, este evento foi organizado pela ONG Lundu, pelo Afrolatin@ Proyect, Arturo Schomburh Democratic Club e AfroInca Produções. Gostaria de agradecer a todos pelo apoio para que o evento se realizasse. Apresentar o documentário que dirigi com Danielle Almeida, que trata-se de um um primeiro registro em câmera não-profissional, e tê-lo que discutir em inglês com um público conhecer da realidade latino-americana, foi um grande desafio. O público se interessou e o momento de troca foi muito importante.

During the month of May, on a trip in order to learn more about african-american culture and share my research work in black culture, was made possible with the support of different institutions in the United States organize 2 screenings of the documentary We, Afro-Peruvians. One was in Raw Space Gallery, in the famous district of Harlem, in New York, this event was organized by the NGO Lundu, Afrolatin@ Proyect, Arturo Schomburh Democratic Club and AfroInca Productions. I would like to thank everyone for their support for the event to take place. Presenting the documentary that I directed with Danielle Almeida, who comes up from a first record in a non-professional camera, and have to discuss it in English with a public that knows about the Latin American reality, was a big challenge. "Nosotros, afroperuanos" premiere in São Paulo

O documentário "Nosotros, afroperuanos", dirigido por Gabriela Watson e Danielle Almeida, após ter sido exibido no Rio de Janeiro e em Lima, foi exibido em Osorno no Chile e em São Paulo, este último, no mês de março, no Memorial da América Latina. Em parceria com a ong INTI Wasi, e com o apoio institucional do Consulado do Peru em São Paulo, organizamos uma noite especial que além da exibição do documentário contou com um debate sobre culturas afrolatinas com as realizadoras e o Prof. Dr. Julio Moracen da UNIFESP e encerramento com apresentação musical de Danielle Almeida e dança afro-peruana com Carmen Watson. Além disso, foram oferecidos petiscos da culinária típica do Peru. Cerca de 150 pessoas lotaram a biblioteca Victor Cívita, no Memorial, fizeram diversas perguntas relacionadas ao documentário, à realidade dos afro-peruanos, sobre suas relações com a realidades das populações negras na América Latina e o público foi ao delírio com a apresentação de Danielle Almeida e de dança afro de Carmen Watson, que já foi integrante do corpo de baile da prestigiada Victoria Santa Cruz, ao encerrar sua participação Carmen foi aplaudida de pé pelo público que estava emocionado.

About 150 people packed the library Civita at the Memorial, they made ​​several questions related to the documentary, the reality of african-Peruvians, about their relationships with the realities of black populations in Latin America. The audience enjoyed the presentation of Danielle Almeida and the Afro-Peruvian dance of Carmen Watson, who was a member of the prestigious Dance Company of Victoria Santa Cruz, at the end Carmen was ovationed by the audience that was thrilled.

The documentary "Nosotros, afroperuanos", directed by Gabriela Watson and Danielle Almeida, had its premiere at the 6th Meeting of Cinema Black: Brazil, Africa and the Caribbean, in Rio de Janeiro, and in February of 2013, as part of our journey of exploration and cultural exchange we had the opportunity to organize an exhibition held with the support of NGOs CEDET - Centro de Desarrollo Etnico, located in Lima - Peru. The screening was ​​at the Cultural Center of Spain and was attended by about eighty people including young activists and public in general . The screening of the documentary was followed by a presentation on the current situation of Afro-Brazilians in terms of laws, policies and achievements. The feedback was very positive, the audience enjoyed the video and as a result gave up a conversation related to the realities of black populations in Brazil and Peru.

Portuguese Version

O documentário "Nosotros, afroperuanos", dirigido por Gabriela Watson e Danielle Almeida, teve sua estreia no 6º Encontro de Cinema Negro: Brazil, Africa e Caribe, no Rio de Janeiro, e em fevereiro como parte da nossa viagem de pesquisa e intercâmbio cultural, tivemos a oportunidade de organizar uma exibição realizada com apoio da ONG Cedet - Centro de Desarrollo Etnico, localizada em Lima - Peru. A exibição foi feita no Centro Cultural da Espanha e foi prestigiada por cerca de oitenta pessoas entre jovens, militantes e interessados em geral. A exibição do documentário fio seguida de uma apresentação sobre a atual situação dos afro-brasileiros em termos de leis, políticas públicas e conquistas.  O retorno foi muito positivo, o público apreciou o vídeo e na sequência deu-se uma conversa relacionada às realidades das populações negras no Brasil e no Peru.

No mês de fevereiro de 2013, dando continuidade ao projeto de intercâmbio cultural com o Peru, Gabriela Watson e Danielle Almeida fizeram outra viagem ao país andino, desta vez, os objetivos eram realizar oficinas em duas comunidades ao norte do país: a cidade de Zaña, visitada previamente por Gabriela em 2008 e o povoado de Capote, ambos ficam no departamento de Lambayeque, o segundo objetivo era divulgado o documentário realizado por ambas "Nosotros, afroperuanos", gravado em 2011. As oficinas foram parte do projeto Palenque Infantil, realizado pela ONG Cedet - Centro de Desarrolo Etnico, focado em crianças e pré-adolescentes com o objetivo de fortalecer o conceito de identidade negra, comunidade e auto-estima. As oficinas contaram com a introdução de conceitos, palavras e história da população negra nas Américas a partir de músicas e jogos desenvolvidos por Danielle Almeida e pela exibição do documentário "Nosotros, afroperuanos".
